DFW Republican Todd Smith will stay in the Texas House according to a capitol source.

The Fort Worth Start Telegram reported last week that Smith was eyeing a run at Senate District 9. Smith used the reported Senate run as leverage during fundraising discussions.

With an elongated primary season and Rick Perry's presidential candidacy fundraising in Texas this cycle has been muted.

Smith is being challenged by Jonathan Stickland in the Republican primary for House District 92.
